Grace Changes Everything

Jesus The Healer lesson 13 The Sending Out

Matthew 8:16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.“

At the cross Jesus bore or infirmities and sickness; Jesus is the One and there is no other; Jesus fulfills the prophetic utterance for all my weakness and sickness. Jesus bore it all!

Psalm 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

This is a prophetic utterance of Jesus coming and ministering all the benefits of God. Salvation, healing of all diseases, redeeming lives from destruction, crowning with loving kindness and tender mercies, and satisfying the believer with good things. This is the God I serve!

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is the substance of the confident expectation of the believer, and faith is the body of evidence that I already have what has not yet manifested in the earthly realm. Faith is putting the circumstance below the living word of God.

Luke 8:26 Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27 And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, "What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!" 29 For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.

We have read this deliverance in Matthew and Mark. Consider this man bond by the devil. Jesus comes across the man and his demons address Jesus. The demons recognize Jesus, declare Him to be the Son of God and fear Him. In America, we have people in the same bondage to the same degree but we have dressed it up and called it sickness.

Luke 8:30 Jesus asked him, saying, "What is your name?" And he said, "Legion," because many demons had entered him. 31 And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss. 32 Now a herd of many swine was feeding there on the mountain. So they begged Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them. 33 Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake and drowned. 34 When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country.

Jesus asked the demon, “What is your name?” They responded, “Legion.” Please take note from the beginning to the end of the encounter the demons bowed to the authority of Jesus Christ. With a word, Jesus commanded them to go. There was Jesus the one with authority and in charge, and the demon legion with no choice whatsoever but to bow to the authority of Jesus Christ.

Luke 8:35 Then they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. 36 They also who had seen it told them by what means he who had been demon-possessed was healed. 37 Then the whole multitude of the surrounding region of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. And He got into the boat and returned. 38 Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you." And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

The town people want to send the one with all authority away. Yet the man delivered want to go with Jesus. Jesus left him instruction; go home and tell what great things God has done for you. Go and tell what Jesus has done. The man went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him. Jesus sent the man to tell his story.

Matthew 10:1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

We have study for 12 weeks all the healings, miracles, and deliverances Jesus walked in. Yet, as He came with this covenant of grace, He sent His disciples out to the works of God. Jesus was giving them a taste of their calling.

Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 “But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 “And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8 “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Specific instruction was given to the disciples to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. The word to be spoken “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Some have never with an open heart received all God has for them. It is not possible to minister what you have not received; receive from the Father’s heart.

Mark 6:12 So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.

The disciples went out and preached repentance. Doing the work of God included casting out the demons, and anointing with oil those who were sick, and they were healed.

James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Anointing with oiling and seeing healing was established under Jesus ministry and continues under the authority of the word of God.

Luke 9:1 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3 And He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece. 4 “Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. 5 “And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them." 6 So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

Again, Jesus sending out the disciples; they preached the gospel of the kingdom and healing everywhere. What is your expectation when the gospel is preached?

Luke 10:17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." 18 And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 “Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."

Jesus shares His authority with the seventy; however, Jesus wants the heart to be established with the truth that the rejoicing should always come because your names are written in heaven.

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Jesus is about to ascend back up to the Father and give the commission to the believers.

Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, "Look at us." 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.

Act3:6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them--walking, leaping, and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
