Do you hunger for what Jesus preached?
Living in the Blessing lesson # 12 Jesus Preached the Blessing part 2
2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that [pertain] to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption [that is] in the world through lust.
Union with Jesus Christ and divine influence by personal relationship with God magnifies the believer’s victory. The exceedingly great and precious promises have been given to partake in!
Ephesian 1:3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly [places] in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
The Blessed One has desire to bless us! God the Father has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. Chosen, adopted, and accepted in the Beloved, according to the good pleasure of His will. What a great picture of the goodness of the Father and His intent toward us.
Hebrews 6:17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed [it] by an oath,
The Father made a determination to show the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel. He took an oath by all that He is and sent Jesus as our forerunner into His presence; all to anchor our soul to His certain hope! Is your soul anchored to His truth?
Matthew 5:6 Blessed [are] those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
Last lesson we began to explore how Jesus preached the blessing. Jesus first recorded sermon begin with 9 blessed is… Here is the fourth blessing, blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. The promised blessing is to fill us with righteousness. Jesus came establishing the righteousness that was imputed by the Father’s desire.
Hebrews 1:8 But to the Son [He says]: "Your throne, O God, [is] forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness [is] the scepter of Your kingdom. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions."
Here is Hebrews 1 God the Father is speaking to God the Son! “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. Jesus came ruling in the Father’s righteousness. Righteousness is to be made in right standing with God. Unique to the kingdom of God is imputed righteousness. Because Jesus loved righteousness and hated lawlessness there was the greatest anointing given to Him. The oil of gladness is for all who come into this kingdom of righteousness.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth [as] a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
There is an exclusive way to the righteousness Jesus preached. It is through faith in the atoning work of the blood of Jesus. The Father will make you just as if you never sinned; blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.
Matthew 5:7 Blessed [are] the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed [are] the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9 Blessed [are] the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
Jesus continued to preach the blessing. Blessed are the merciful they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. Jesus preached the blessing and provided the blessing so you could walk in it.
James 3:13 Who [is] wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct [that] his works [are done] in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking [exist], confusion and every evil thing [are] there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
All the blessed attributes are given by God to His children. His wisdom is given as a gift and then He blesses us for walking in the blessing He has given to us.
Matthew 5:10 Blessed [are] those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great [is] your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Blessed are the persecuted; God rewards with His glory those who are persecuted for righteousness sake. Great is your reward in heaven; God is a great record keeper.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with [Him], that we may also be glorified together. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
If we suffer with Him we will also be glorified together. Present suffering cannot compare to the promised glory revealed in us.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those [who are] Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
You have what Jesus said you needed to walk the blessed life. He gave it to you when he put the fruit of the Spirit in you. Nurture it faithfully to live in the blessing.
1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
Jesus has provided everything you need to walk with a confidence toward God.
1 John 3:22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
The command for the blessing is that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another.
1 John 2: 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that [is] in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
We have been called to place our affection upon our creator; Placing our affection elsewhere can inhibit the blessing. Jesus indeed preached the blessing.
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Blessed, blessed, blessed, blessed, blessed, blessed, blessed, blessed, blessed, blessed! Jesus calls us to hear the blessing from the God perspective.
